Latest update - Feb 2012
MAC
---------------------------
We have started seeing an increase in reports from customers and within the last few days regarding an issue with DSSPlayer Mac 7 for users who are using newer Macs and have just updated to the recently released Mac 10.6.7 OS.
In Snow Leopard Mac OS X the kernel has been rebuilt to run in 64 bit mode on some machines.
In the most recent update (10.6.7) this has made certain machines boot up in 64 bit mode by default instead of the usual 32 bit.
Our software unfortunately does not support 64 bit kernel.
What seems to be occurring when a user tries to run our software in 64 bit, the voice recorders are being recognised as usual by the computer (removable drive(s) on the desktop), however when the software loads it does not detect the device at all.
At the moment we do not yet have an update solution for this issue, however we do have a temporary solution available in the meantime which involves either temporarily or permanently booting the Mac in 32 bit.
UPDATE 28/06/2011 SOON TO BE COMPATIBLE....

Philips Executive Pro version 5
This version started with a USB license dongle. This dongle was capable of plugging other devices into the end of it. We do not recommend this.
If you are receiving an error 'no valid license available' try shutting the PC down without the device plugged in, change USB port (restart with no device plugged in). If you have another dongle in the office try exchanging it.
If you have bought from us please call us if you have tried all of the above.
In later versions of 5, the license was called 'smart key'. The license is a short USB key, it looks like a memory stick.
The smart key when plugged in will glow RED, ORANGE or GREEN.
RED = No license on key
Orange = License has been downloaded. In the case of an emergency you use the 30 day license key that remains and send the key into us.
Green = Full license remains on the key
Philips Executive Pro version 6
The smart key has the same LED colour code (see above)
If you do not see any colour, remove the key for 5 minutes and then try again.
You can not use a version 5 key with version 6 software.
Always keep up to date with the latest version from PHILIPS.
We do have a program that will send out updates via CD if you wish. You need to have a current service agreement.
Just a quick note:
Nuance have created an app for your iPhone that connects to the Dragon Naturally Speaking version 11.5 (tested within Premium).
When compared to the Philips Speech mike out of the box, the iPhone app is not very good.
I will update this blog in the next couple of days and let you know how I go with a bit more training,
Is the iPhone app worthwhile?
